How often should an office actually be cleaned?

The honest answer depends on headcount per square metre, not on office size. Twenty people in an open plan generate far more cleaning demand than twenty people in private offices.

Bathrooms and kitchens set the floor. Any office with more than about ten staff needs these serviced daily; nothing damages workplace morale faster than a neglected shared kitchen.

Desks and general areas can usually run three times a week for smaller teams, daily above roughly thirty staff, and weekly for studios under ten people.

Carpets should be extraction cleaned every six to twelve months regardless of vacuuming frequency, because vacuuming removes surface debris but not embedded soil.

Sanitisation of high-touch points — door handles, lift buttons, shared keyboards, kitchen taps — is worth running monthly alongside the standard contract.
